Calendar sense

I've mounted a big desktop calendar on the wall near the back door. All appointments and special plans go in one place so no one and nothing gets forgotten. It's easy to see who does what when -- we use different color highlighters to denote who's who.

Children's puzzles

When my children got a new puzzle I would write a number (starting with #1, 0) on the back of the puzzle ... then on the back of each piece write the same number as what is on the back of the puzzle.  If puzzles get mixed up it's easy to put them all back together again.

Christmas & patio lights

I use the empty Scott paper towel rolls to keep my patio lights organized. I cut a notch in the end and tuck the plug inside the roll. I wind the lights around and secure the end of the lights in a notch at the other end. Works great to keep all the lights from turning into a mess of knots and tangles.

Easier to change purse:

I store everything in my purse into 2 ziplock plastic bags, When changing purses, I transfer the two bags plus my wallet and I haven't forgotten a thing !!! For example: I put miniature sizes of comb, brush, kleenex, alcohol swabs,Qtips, etc. in one bag and miniatures of aspirin, sudafed, antacid, eyeshadow, liner, etc, in the other. Since they are see-through I know where everything is immediately, and every month or so, I just replace it with a fresh one. If I don't have a ziplock bag, I use a plastic newspaper bag.

Errands

I made index cards for all my regular errand stops (post office, pharmacy, dry cleaner, etc., 0) If I need to remember to stop at the pharmacy on my way home from work, I just put the pharmacy index card on my dashboard to remind me.

Family directory

We have a large family. I created a spreadsheet that I update each year. The spreadsheet has each family's name (including children, 0), address, telephone and mobile numbers, and e-mail address. Makes sending Christmas cards a lot easier.

Freezer Bins

Keep a tote with lid to hold your check account books, extra check registers, extra checks, pencils, extra pens, calculator, calendar, address labels, stamps and an accordion yearly folder for check invoices, summary and cancelled checks. When you get ready to do your bills all supplies are ready to go and make the process quick and easy. Buying a book of stamps in advance that don't change prices makes this a carefree project. Adding a box of plain business envelopes and a letter opener is a great idea too!

Keeping Screws Organized

If you have to remove screws from something you are repairing and there are many different ones from different sections, label a piece of masking tape for the part they came out of. Then stick the screws to the tape. It sure makes it fast and easy to put the screws back on, plus the screws stay put and don't get lost while you are working!

Laundry Dots

Whose t-shirt is whose? Use fabric marker and put one dot on clothes labeled for the oldest child, two dots for child two, etc... When you pass clothes down, just add a dot!
